New Rumor Regarding Chris Evans’ Future As CAPTAIN AMERICA Pops Up
Now let’s preface this by saying it’s a rumor that you need to get your salt shakers out for, but it’s something that makes sense. The timing may be slightly off though. Since that’s out of the way, let’s dive in to a new rumor about Chris Evans’ future with Marvel as the First Avenger. A site called Celebitchy bring up something fans have actually been discussing the past little while. They raise a question regarding Evans under the banner of the recent announcement that The Winter Soldier would be undergoing some reshoots soon. Says the site:
Reshoots are pretty typical for big blockbusters these days. It sounds like trouble on the surface to hear about reshoots, but I think the internet news cycle just makes us more aware that they happen.
Nonetheless, people are starting to wonder if there is trouble on the set…Now rumors (and these are only rumors) suggest that Chris’ Cap character is set to be killed off in either Cap 2 or Avengers: Age of Ultron. Maybe this is only publicity to suggest that the Winter Solder will take up the Cap shield. Or maybe Chris Evans is really a goner for Marvel.
The site says they aren’t 100% sold on the rumors, and like ourselves, are passing it along mainly for discussions sake. It does at least make a little sense considering Captain America has indeed bit the bullet in the comics, leading to his longtime friend and sidekick Bucky taking up the shield. With The Winter Soldier storyline getting ready to play out on the big screen, it wouldn’t be a huge leap to believe there could be a time when Evans steps aside and lets Sebastian Stan fill in. Evans hasn’t been a huge fan of blockbusters lately and it has seemed like he would be the first Marvel actor ready to leave as soon as their contract was up (not counting Downey. That man is a shrewd negotiator).
Evans has signed on for 6 films, and he’s already used 5 of those- Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. His part in Thor was an amazing, but quick, cameo that is said to have counted toward his contract. Marvel could easily use him in another cameo role or have him die in the beginning of another film. Now this is all thinking out loud for now, but it’s not outside of the realm of possibility. What do you think? Is this just a crazy rumor or do you think Evans time wielding the shield is coming to an end?
