New Info, Villain Picture, And Behind The Scenes Video For STAR WARS REBELS
Some new details on the Star Wars Rebels series were revealed earlier today at the special Star Wars animation panel at New York Comic Con. While no footage for the series was shown, mainly because it hasn’t really begun just yet, loads of details about the villains of the show were revealed. Bleeding Cool had a rundown of the entire panel.
The show will be set roughly 14 years after Revenge of the Sith and will show the rise of the Galactic Empire. The show will look at how people start to realize the Empire being in charge may not be the best thing. The timeline would make Princess Leia a teenager. Most of the rebels in the series will be teenagers, though Bleeding Cool said the panelists danced around that particular fact. Leia has not been announced as appearing, but it’s a pretty good bet she’ll pop up sometime in some form or fashion. The key setting for the show is a planet called Lothal. It was described as “Tatooine-y” and was designed to stay as close to possible to what Ralph McQuarrie presented in his paintings for the films.
There will be a lot of Stormtroopers in the series. There will be different designs and some will mirror the old toys. There will possibly be some brand new alien species based on McQuarrie‘s unused artwork as well.
The big bad of the show was revealed. Below the behind the scenes video shown to those in attendance, you can see our first look at The Inquisitor. The Sith will be hunting down Jedis in his black costume with his double bladed lightsaber. None of the Stormtroopers in the series will be clones, but they are trained by them. Some Jedis and bounty hunters will appear throughout the series as well. They remained coy on whether or not any Clone Wars characters would appear, but it is a possibility. The first three shows will be bright and cheery, with the fourth turning toward a less optimistic tone. The showrunners aren’t afraid to kill some characters. What do you think about the new details and our first sneak peek at the new series? Star Wars Rebels will debut in 2014 on Disney and Disney XD.
