New Doctor Who TARDIS Interior Revealed

TARDIS top
We had heard that this year’s Christmas episode of Doctor Who would debut a new TARDIS interior for the 11th Doctor. The BBC had teased the new interior with a closeup of the ceiling section above the central column and time rotor (as you can see placed as the banner for this article). Today we get a full look at the new TARDIS redesign by way of a promotional image for The Snowmen.

The new look seems reminiscent of the 5th and 6th Doctor’s TARDIS, which may have been inspiration since we are on our way to the 50th Anniversary in November of 2013. The new look was pulled off by the show’s production designer, Michael Pickwoad. This marks the third TARDIS interior change since the show came back to our televisions in 2005. Interestingly enough, Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor is the one that has had 2 different TARDIS interiors. Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant’s Doctors shared the same interior design. What do you think of the new look? Do you like the retro feel or were you a fan of the old…new…design?

why did they change the console

    • Edward Teach says:

Watch any episode of the old series… this is the ‘classic’ console (in fact it looks almost exactly like the 80′s re-design done for Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor). Expect to see a lot of retro stuff and call-backs next year as Doctor Who turns 50.
