New Disney XD Promo And Character Bios For CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
It seems most of this week has been dominated by new clips, trailers, teasers, and set visits for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We were spoiled earlier with a four-minute video split between a two-minute clip with Batroc the Leaper and a newly cut two-minute trailer. Today we get a few more Winter Soldier goodies in the form of a Disney XD promo reintroducing us to Cap and some of his new allies as well as some updated character bios from the official Marvel site for the highly-anticipated film directed by the Russo brothers.
Disney XD ran a special promo for the film today with the featurette title of “Reassemble.” It doesn’t feature more than a flash or two of new footage, but it gives us a down and dirty rundown of what has been going on since The Avengers. Disney has been pushing out a lot of fantastic featurettes, posters, and other promotional material the last few months, but we can probably expect to see more videos like this playing on the Disney family of networks as we get closer to the April 4th release.
Marvel.Com has also upped their Cap game by updating the character bios for the film today (with a tip of the hat to @_NerdyGeek_). We pretty well know Steve Rogers‘ story, but his bio adds that he is “living a quiet life in Washington D.C., struggling to adjust to his new life, when he is drawn into a web of intrigue and danger to unmask a powerful but shadowy enemy that threatens to put the world at risk.” The updated bio for Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow plays up her credentials before it closes with “Black Widow returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters to take on new assignments, only to find herself joining forces with Captain America to expose an ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off assailants sent to silence them at every turn.” The ones for Winter Soldier, Falcon and the mysterious Alexander Pierce are a little meatier though.
Winter Soldier: Steve Rogers’ best friend Bucky Barnes was thought to have died in World War II. However, he resurfaces decades later as the Winter Soldier, a brainwashed, mega-enhanced Super-Soldier doing dirty work for a mysterious organization. The hardened Winter Soldier has no memories of his former identity and that suits him just fie- he is simply a killing machine.
Sam Wilson aka Falcon: Sam Wilson is an ex-military paratrooper who works with veterans in Washington D.C. Secretly trained by the military in aerial combat using a specially designed wing pack, Falcon becoms an indispensable ally when he teams up with Captain America and Black Widow to run a danger-filled race to halt an impending threat in its tracks.
Alexander Pearce: A high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and personal friend of Nick Fury, Alexander Pierce is respected and politically connected. Often the person who interfaces with prominent world officials, Pierce is polished and well spoken, and presents a credible face to the world on behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D.
So there’s your Captain America blast to help close out the week. What do you think about the new promo and bios?
