New CAPTAIN AMERICA Variant Cover By ALEX ROSS Is Pretty Stellar
After seeing the how successful Captain America: The Winter Soldier was at the box office this past weekend, I think it’s a safe bet to say that people, both comic book fans and otherwise, really like Captain America. For decades now, Steve Rogers has served as America’s soldier, the Sentinel of Liberty, as he’s often called. After all, not many folks can say they’ve punched Hitler in the face.
Marvel, who are issuing a 12-part variant cover art series to celebrate their 75th anniversary, brought in iconic artist Alex Ross to work on the project after a twenty year hiatus. The covers will be released throughout the 2014 year and we have a look at the next cover in the series, featuring Captain America.
The cover features Cap in two eras: his time with the Howling Commandos during World War II and the modern era with the iconic character teamed with The Avengers. In the middle is the scrawny Steve Rogers prior to him taking the Super Soldier serum that would change his life forever. As you’d expect with any Alex Ross piece, the work is truly remarkable. There is no word on when the cover will be released at this point.
