Frank Beddor, author of the Looking Glass Wars trilogy hit series of books and the spin-off graphic novel series Hatter M, is teaming up with Nathan Fillion’s charity Kids Need to Read for a charity book drive. For every book sold at this year’s upcoming Phoenix Comicon (May 23-26) and/or on Beddor’s Kickstarter page (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/149372651/hatter-m-zen-of-wonder) Beddor will match every purchase with a donation to Kids Need to Read.

In a press release from Phoenix Comicon issued today convention director Matt Solberg said of the event:

“Frank has been a fixture at Phoenix Comicon since its early years and has been at the intersection of realizing success and using that success to the benefit of others for even longer. Getting kids to read will be successful through these efforts.”

Beddor said of this team-up that

“This was a no-brainer, getting books into the hands of kids is something every author needs to take part in. And Kids Need to Read is one of the best ways to do that.”

Charity founder Nathan Fillion, star of ABC’s hit series “Castle” and best known in the nerd community as Captian Malcom “Mal” Reynolds from the short-lived TV show “Firefly,” said of Beddor’s involvement with Kids Need to Read:

“Yes, I am excited. But, you’re right, I wasn’t surprised. I’ve known Frank for several years now. And he’s a great guy. And a great supporter of our organization.”

So if you’re in the Phoenix area during the Memorial Day Weekend come down to Phoenix Comicon and check out Frank Beddor’s newest work and help contribute to a great charity for children’s literacy. If you can’t make it out, check out Beddor’s Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/149372651/hatter-m-zen-of-wonder) to purchase a book and contribute to Kids Need to Read.
