More ‘Transformers’ Movies Coming; Jack Reynor Joins Fourth Film

rIt wasn’t a total shock to learn that Paramount would be doing more films in the Transformers franchise, especially when you look at the box office take of the first three films. What did come as a surprise however, was that Michael Bay signed on to direct Transformers 4, after repeatedly saying he was done. Regardless, we are stuck with him for at least one for movie and now he has announced that one film has turned into three and a trilogy is headed our way. He doesn’t mention whether he will direct all three films, but you can bet he’ll be attached in some fashion, likely as a producer.
He also mentions that Jack Reynor has joined the cast of the film and will star opposite Mark Wahlberg. Reynor is most known for an Irish film he took part in, What Richard Did. It was in this film that Bay saw the young actor and knew he had to have him for his next film.
Along with that news, Bay gives us an idea as to when this film takes place in conjunction with the previous films and also reiterates that this will not be a reboot.
This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different than the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.
No word yet on who will fill the role of the female lead for the film, though a few names have been tossed around. Also still a mystery is which of the famed Autobots and Decepticons will show up in the news film(s), but we can only hope Optimus Primie will show up. A Transformers movie without him would be a total travesty.
