UPDATE: Miles Teller Seems To Be All But Officially Confirmed For FANTASTIC FOUR
A lot of folks still aren’t convinced that the Fantastic Four reboot will actually happen. There have been numerous delays and production has been moved back several times, but things appear to be back on track and director Josh Trank is ready to start filming in March after the final scrip rewrite is completed. The only problem is that there isn’t a full cast in place (that we know of at least). Michael B. Jordan has been all but officially confirmed to play Johnny Storm, and now it seems that you can add Miles Teller to the all but confirmed list as Mr. Fantastic.
Teller has become a rising star thanks in part to the success of last year’s The Spectacular Now and this year’s Sundance darling Whiplash, but he has said to have been at the top of Trank‘s shortlist for Fantastic Four since early last year. Teller danced around the rumors but Trank denied them outright. In a recent interview with Punk Drunk Critics (via CBM), Teller seemingly confirms his involvement. When asked for a Fantastic Four update, the actor said “Yeah, that should be coming up in the next few weeks.” The site also points out that Teller was very interested in the project and seemed to be very excited about it.
Teller and Jordan worked alongside one another in the upcoming That Awkward Moment, so they’re definitely familar with each other if they end up being two of the member’s of Marvel‘s first family. With this news the only thing left to wonder is who will join the duo as Sue Storm and Ben Grimm. What do you think about Teller possibly being our new Reed Richards?
UPDATE: Shortly after all the Teller news, Variety has a new report on the reboot. They claim that Simon Kinberg has finished the script and actors will begin testing for the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm by the end of the month. Teller is the frontrunner, but Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) and Richard Madden are said to be in contention too. Saoirse Ronan and Kate Mara are the only names mentioned for Sue Storm. Michael B. Jordan is said to be locked, so he’ll test with the other actors to find the right chemistry. No mention of Ben Grimm.
