Michael Shannon Teases His General Zod In Man Of Steel

Just yesterday we heard Amy Adams tease her new take on Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and today we have Michael Shannon commenting on how his portrayal of General Zod will look different as well. Man of Steel has been pretty secretive so far. There have been scant few set photos and even fewer words about the film from the cast. While it won’t be long before we get all kinds of goodies from this next installment in the DC movie universe, we have to hold on to these little teaser tidbits for now.

When asked by Yahoo! Movies what he could say about General Zod, Shannon had this to say:

He’s a general. On a planet called Krypton. I don’t know what to say about Zod. It’s shrouded in secrecy. [Long pause.] He’s a badass mofo.

When asked if he would be a badass mofo in a jumpsuit like Terence Stamp’s Zod, Shannon echoed some of Amy Adam’s comments about new looks in the film:

I will look slightly different than Terence Stamp because otherwise, what’s the point? It will all be slightly different. I think it’s pretty cool. I’m going to be doing so many interviews for the “Man of Steel.” I’ll save it for then. It is funny because people bring me pictures to sign at events and things, and there are all these mockups online and people imagining what I’m going to look like. There are some pretty funny ones, something with a black SS uniform and — what do you call it when you got the mustache and there’s this soul patch… Yeah, like a T. Well, that’s totally wrong but I’ll sign it if you want me to.

So that’s another actor saying that Snyder’s Superman will look a little different than many are used to seeing. I think this has a lot of potential. If Snyder can reinvent Superman for the screen like Christopher Nolan did, DC will have no trouble expanding their movie universe. It seems like a lot of DC’s future films will be hinging on this one, such as the much talked about Justice League. Hopefully it will live up to the hype. What say you? How do you want to see Zod done this time around?

I feel good about Snyder’s version. Having said that, my fingers are crossed.
