Michael Pena Offered Role in Marvel’s ANT-MAN
While that whole Johnny Depp issue tries to figure out what it’s doing, there is some other Marvel casting news that we can report this afternoon. According to The Wrap, Michael Pena has been offered a role in Edgar Wright‘s upcoming hero flick, Ant-Man. It is unspecified what role the actor will be filling however and of course, Marvel is denying the news. Pena has shown the ability of playing both dramatic and comedic roles and with Wright promising that Ant-Man will be more comedic than previous Marvel films, Pena will certainly be a great addition to the cast.
Pena can currently be seen opposite Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale and Amy Adams in American Hustle. He has several other projects in some phase of production that you should keep your eye on, including a Caesar Chavez biopic and David Ayer’s untitled war film. In addition to that, he’ll b starring in the US version of Broadchurch.
Production on Ant-Man is expected to begin this May, with a release date of July 31, 2015. As of now, the film also stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, who will play Stephan Lang and Hank Pym, respectively. We can expect to see more casting news in the near future as production begins to ramp up. Be sure to keep checking back to Comic Book Therapy for all the latest.
