Max Hernandez Returning to Captain America Sequel as Agent Sitwell

by

Earlier, we learned that film icon Robert Redford was in final talks to join the ranks of Marvel’s sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger, an addition that is both exciting and intriguing, mainly because he will be playing a role that is being compared to Ralph Fiennes’ character in Skyfall. No other info was given on that, so we’ll have to see how that plays out.

Another casting that recently occurred is Max Hernandez returning to reprise his role of Agent Sitwell, who appeared in both The Avengers and the short film Item 47. The actor tweeted the news, along with some interesting information regarding The Winter Soldier. The tweets were later removed, but were confirmed by Deadline. Here’s what he had to say:

“So it’s a much bigger role in a much darker Cap Story. Lots of twists and turns. And lots secrets about the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] revealed! I can’t say much more or the Marvel cops will revoke my S.H.I.E.L.D. clearance! Trust me you will all freak out in the theatre when all is revealed!”

It’s expected that the anticipated sequel would be darker that it’s predecessor, but there seems to be more than we expected. Naturally, he was very vague, but he does incite some interesting questions. Later on, Hernandez was asked via Twitter whether these twists and turns originate in the comics or if they were original, to which he replied “new twist.”

Captain America is set to begin filming in May with Anthony and Joe Russo at the helm. Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Toby Jones, Hayely Atwell, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Frank Grillo will be starring.
