Matt Fraction Leaving Fantastic Four And FF

by

FantasticFour_570_NewLogoHere’s a bit of comic book news that isn’t a complete shock, but is still kind of surprising. Matt Fraction will be stepping away from writing duties on both Fantastic Four and FF. CBR was told the news from Senior Vice President of Publishing Tom Brevoort. Fraction‘s last issue of Fantastic Four will be #12 in September, with  FF #11 (coming out later this month) being his final issue for that series. The change comes in part due to Fraction‘s new job on the upcoming Inhumanity event and the spin-off Inhumans title.

Brevoort told CBR that Fraction has outlined what would have been the end of his Fantastic Four related arcs. Karl Kesel will step in for Fantastic Four and Lee Allred will be taking over FF to finish those plans and make a few new stories of their own.Fraction‘s original arc in both series are expected to wrap up with each book’s 16th issues. Since the story first hit, Fraction‘s FF artist Michael Allred has taken to Twitter to talk about the writer’s departure. Allred makes it sound like FF will come to an end after issue #16. Whether it’s just the end for him or the end for the entire series remains to be seen. He does have another project in the works for Marvel though and he hinted that we would probably see him on Daredevil again as well. What do you think about Fraction‘s departure?
