Mary Jane, Harry Osborne, And A Big Villain Being Lined Up For Spider-Man 2
Marc Webb was recently locked in for the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, so casting additions have gotten underway. In a surprising report today, Variety has a rundown of some of the possible new characters and a top casting choice.
It looks like the sequel may have a love triangle when Mary Jane Watson gets added into the mix. Word is that “The Descendants” star Shailene Woodley is in early talks to play everyone’s favorite redhead and is the studio’s top choice for the role.
While the MJ news is big in and of itself, there were also some other possible additions announced today. It’s rumored that Electro is one of the villains that could be squaring off against Spidey. Sony is also starting to look for an actor to play Harry Osborn as well. With Norman teased mercilessly in the first film, it looks like we may be introduced to the whole family in the sequel.
Woodley is an odd choice for Mary Jane, but I could see it working with the way Marc Webb has recreated the Spider-Man mythos. It’s also important to note that Electro (who many assumed was in the post credits scene) is one of the possible VILLAINS being considered. We may be seeing two, three, maybe six villains in the sequel. What do you think? Should they throw MJ, Harry, and some baddies in there or will that be too reminiscent of Spider-Man 3?
