Things have been pretty silent since the announcement around Comic Con time that James Gunn would be bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Our first bit of real news hits today by way of Deadline. Marvel and Disney’s shortlist of actors to portray the leading man of the film has emerged. The leader of the Guardians, and main character of the forthcoming movie, is Peter Quill aka Star-Lord.
According to Deadline, deals are being made to have a group of actors come in and test for the role. The names being thrown around right now are Joel Edgerton (Odd Life of Timothy Green), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (The Hobbit), and Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables). The site is also saying that besides that list there are some people that do have Marvel’s attention even if they haven’t made a test deal. Those gentlemen are Garrett Hedlund, James Marsden (yes, Cyclops), Sullivan Stapleton.
That’s some list they’ve put together. With actors being looked at, it shouldn’t be too long before we hear some more concrete news about Guardians. What do you think about that list? Who would you like to see don the helmet and lead the Guardians into battle (probably against Thanos)?
