Marvel Will Release Ant-Man Footage If You Want It Plus Doctor Strange Rumors Denied

You may remember that besides several announcements of movies we had already figured out, Marvel showed Edgar Wright’s test footage for the Ant-Man film. There were descriptions of the awesomeness that was shown, but there wasn’t a single second of footage leaked out after Comic Con. Many people, even those who saw it, wanted Marvel to release the footage. We might finally get that wish fulfilled if fans can make a little noise. In an interview with Omelete, Marvel executive Victoria Alonso talked about that possibility:

What we showed at Comic-Con was a work in progress. We’re working on finishing it, and I think you might see it. Not sure where, but we always listen to the fans. And if the fans demand it we make sure they get it. I don’t know if we are going to post it online, but I don’t have [any reason] to believe we may not.

Make noise, make all the noise you can. Marvel will release the footage, probably on their website, if they get some feedback. The interview also confirmed that Edgar Wright was indeed on board for Ant-Man. That seems like an odd piece of info to confirm since we’ve known Wright was involved even by his own admission.

Another piece of news coming out of that interview was the denial of a rumor that has been making its rounds on the internet for the past few weeks. Rumors from a “Marvel insider” on Twitter has been taken up by many sites even though they are things you could easily guess from prior comments on Marvel movies. One of the bigger ones was that Doctor Strange would show up in Thor: The Dark World in more than a post-credits cameo role. The person also said that Viggo Mortensen was being looked at for the sorcerer supreme. Here’s the official denial of that one:

We would love to work with Viggo Mortensen. I’ve been trying that for years. But I don’t know if Viggo is even acting anymore. I thought he wasn’t acting anymore. It would be great to work with him in the future, but we don’t have him signed, no.

There you have it. Mortensen has said that he was done with acting, save for a few roles he’d take if offered, and Marvel hasn’t really talked with him. There may indeed be something to the Doctor Strange part, but Mortense won’t be donning the goatee and cape. Are you going to make some noise for the Ant-Man footage? Did you buy into the “Strange” rumors that have been out lately?
