Marvel Unveils New AVENGERS VS. X-MEN Covers; Guess Who Is Back?

by
An historic dead man might come to life at Marvel! Earlier today we saw a first Look at the first issue but Marvel isn’t finished. Oh no sir! Marvel fans have been teased with the return of Captain Marvel for as long as I can remember. In a day in age, where true super heroes can’t completely die, Captain Marvel has been one of those guys that always managed to stay dead since his death in 1982.

The original Captain Marvel, the official Mar-Vell of the Kree army, created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan, fell victim to cancer. Since then, many have used the title of Captain Marvel, but Mar-Vell never returned.

Up to now.

The House of Ideas has released (along with the covers for WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN #10 and the AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #3 PICHELLI VARIANT) the cover of SECRET AVENGERS #27, one of several magazines involved with the Avengers vs X-Men saga, which features no less than the original Captain Marvel on the cover. Check it out below:

The war to save the Marvel Universe in continues this May as the Avengers go head to head against the X-Men while the all-powerful Phoenix Force hurdles towards Earth!

You’ve heard It’s Coming—and this April The War Is Here in Avengers VS X-Men! All your favorite super heroes enter—and only one team will emerge victorious!

Now, what comes into play is really simple:

Is this the real Mar-Vell or someone else brought on to take over the mantle?

Remember that, ultimately, this may not be a return itself. On other occasions, Marvel has “joked” and teased with a possible return of the character, just to keep him dead. But given that Marvel is pulling out all the stops this year in many of their titles, it is probably a safe bet that the real deal is back.

The bigger question will be, are fans going to be happy with his return or has he been gone too long?
