Marvel Releases Interior Art And Info On An Acetate Cover For Wolverine Origin II

by

originFans were excited and even slightly confused when Marvel announced they would be exploring Wolverine’s early days one more time in Orignis II (a sequel to the 2001 series from Bill Jemas, Paul Jenkins, and Joe Quesada). This December we will see the unexplored days of Wolverine’s life between his earlier days in Origins until his first meeting with other mutants and some of the X-Men. The series will be written by current Iron Man scribe Kieron Gillen with Andy Kubert providing art. Kubert handled art duties for Origins, so he’s a perfect fit for the new series.

Today Marvel have unveiled a few preview pages of Kubert’s art for the first issue as well as news on a special acetate cover. The cover, by Kubert, will feature a background layer of wolves and one layer focused on Wolverine’s extended and bloodied claws. The official press releases compares the cover to the 1994 series Marvels. You can check out a gif example of the cover, the different layer of the covers, and the first preview pages of the interior art below. At the very bottom you can read the full press release. What do you think about our first look at Origins II?

Top it off with Frank Martin’s delicious colors? The rendering, the concept and the surprise that readers will get when they lift the top layer of the cover drives home what a can’t-miss event Origin II is.”
