Marvel Movie Rundown: Thor 2, Iron Man 3 Concept Art And Casting Call
It’s that time again. That time where we have some brief news on upcoming Marvel movies. This time it’s Thor 2 and even more about Iron Man 3. For Thor we have possible information on the villains this go around, and for Iron Man 3 we have some more concept art and a little on an extras casting call.
We know that the original cast is returning and that some scenes may feature Odin and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) together. We also know that Mads Mikkelsen is not going to be playing the baddie after all. Now we may have learned a little about who the baddies actually are. Simon Bland had a quick chat with a stuntman over on I Review Too… about his work on Thor. Jim Grogan talked about the importance of acting in stunt work, and relayed this nugget:
The other day for example, this is quite random but I was working on Thor 2. I had a load of stunt guys in and the director came in and he said ‘Look, we want you all to be elves,’ and I was like ‘What the hell is an elf anyway?’ and he said ‘I want you all to walk around like these supernatural animals,’ honestly it was the most ridiculous thing ever but you just have to not be self aware and get on with it.
With a title like Thor: The Dark World, it’s not that big of a surprise that we may be seeing the god of thunder square off against some dark elves. Now we have a little credence on that bit of speculation. I’m still hoping for an announcement about the Enchantress.
Iron Man 3
We had seen some concept art previously of Tony wearing the Iron Man arm and fighting off some intruders. Now we get a look at the armor revealed at Comic Con in an action scene. Stark Industries revealed this piece.
Also, there is an interesting bit about a casting call looking for extras. Last week, the Caged Heat page was putting out the call for children and adult males of Middle Eastern and Indian descents. With the confirmation at Comic Con that Ben Kingsley was in fact the Mandarin, this could be related to that. It could be for establishing shots when we check in with the Mandarin wherever he may be, or it could be something else entirely. We just don’t know. Yesterday, the page called for males in their 30′s-60′s who could pass for “Sopranos, Goodfellas, and The Godfather types.” If you were to submit an email application, you were told to use the heading GUARD. It’s not too much of a leap to figure out what that could be used for.
That does it for this edition of Marvel Movie Rundown. With all the announcements at Comic Con, I’m sure we’ll have another installment soon. And for those that asked, it won’t be too long before we start a DC Movie Rundown, things should be cooking on that end after Man of Steel.
