Marvel Comics Grab Bag Of News: Spider-Man, Iron Man, And Indestructible Hulk

Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso answered fans questions in his weekly column with CBR. One of the biggest stories in comics this week is Dan Slott’s Amazing Spider-Man #698. If you haven’t read that yet go ahead and skim over the art previews presented below because we’re going to talk about that big reveal now. In said issue, we find out that Dock Ock has switched places with Peter Parker just as Ock’s body is about to die. It was a very ambitious story that we won’t see play out in its entirety until next month. Alonso said he wasn’t sold on the story the first time he heard about it, but after Slott talked about where it was going he came around. He said that no one will believe where Slott is taking the story all the way up to Superior Spider-Man.

While Superior Spider-Man is still a ways off, we have a few more issues of Amazing Spider-Man to go. It seemed you either loved or hated the big twist in #698. Many see that story development as only lasting a few issues like many other big changes that have came and went before. Not so according to Alonso.  When asked about the long term impact of the story, he said:

A lot of folks said the exact same thing when Bucky put on Steve Rogers’ tights! [Laughs] Look, this story definitely takes place over more than six issues. Dan has a lot of story to tell.

Along with some other questions, Alonso unveiled some preview pages for Greg Land’s Iron Man #4 and Leinil Yu’s pencils for Indestructible Hulk #3.
