Mark Waid has been staying pretty busy lately. The Eisner Award-winning scribe has been delivering the goods with Daredevil and Hulk, gearing up for the new Green Hornet ongoing, and working on his passion project Thrillbent.com.
The site is a digital comics stop that delivers new content weekly designed for computers and tablets for the amazing price of free! Besides Waid’s own story Insufferable, many other writers and artists contribute to the groundbreaking experiment. The site has garnered a lot of attention and success in it’s early days, and Mark Waid was on hand to talk about Thrillbent, the future of digital comics, and comics in general at the O Reilly Tools of Change for Publishing conference.
The writer delivered a presentation titled “Reinventing Comics and Graphic Novels for Digital” where he talks about the approach Thrillbent has taken and how the future is going to shift from print to more digital comics. He brings up some great points about digital comics problems as well as how he would throw a writer out of the window if they pitched him a comic that was like the beginning of Reservoir Dogs. He also teases what’s in store for Thrillbent’s new year. You can check out the full presentation below courtesy of O Reilly Media’s Youtube page.
