Mark Strong Plays Coy When Asked About Playing Lex Luthor
Speculation has abounded on what will happen in Zack Snyder’s next Superman film since Man of Steel’s release, but things got even more frantic when it was announced at Comic-Con that the sequel would involve Batman. One of the things that has been the center of much speculation is who could play Lex Luthor. It’s inevitable that the big bald baddie will show up sometime in the new DC cinematic universe. Two names have been thrown out this week, and one of the actors mentioned has been asked about it.
Earlier this week Bryan Cranston’s name popped up in a few circles as a Luthor possibility, but one person that has had his name thrown around with more frequency is Mark Strong. The actor brought Sinestro to life in Green Lantern, but by all accounts that film will be completely ignored as DC builds their movie universe. Strong did nail the role of Sinestro, but it seems his DC comic book dance card will be wide open. Digital Spy spoke with the actor and asked whether there were any truth to the Lex Luthor rumors. Strong would only say “All I can say is…watch this space.” Whether the actor was dodging questions because he is actually on the shortlist or he has heard the rumors before and wants to have some fun with reporters remains to be seen. He definitely has the look and the presence to bring Superman’s most fearsome foe to life. What do you think about Strong possibly taking over LexCorp?
