Mark Ruffalo Talks Science Bros And The Possibility Of A HULK Solo Flick

science brosOne of the many things Marvel fans are excited to see in Avengers: Age of Ultron is an expanded role for Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and his internal, green rage monster the Hulk. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige promised larger and more substantial roles for both Banner and Jeremy Renner‘s Hawkeye. We’ve seen several set photos of Renner in his new costume, but we’re just now starting to get our first shots of Ruffalo running around as Banner. The actor recently spoke with Digital Spy about playing Hulk and fielded yet another question about a possible Hulk solo outing. The actor seems to think it’s a real possibility now, though he also agrees a team-up movie with the other half of the Science Bros. would be cool too.

While Ruffalo didn’t spill any beans about Age of Ultron, he did tease some more Science Bro. goodies. Tony Stark and Bruce Banner formed quite the odd friendship in The Avengers, and it took off as a hugely popular internet meme. Some are funny, others are just plain ol’ creepy and put Banner and Stark into some very adult situations. There will be more fuel added to those fires since Ruffalo said that there will be some “very cool Science Bros. stuff.

When asked about the possibility of another Hulk solo movie starring himself, Ruffalo says that Marvel is actually starting to come around to the idea. He said rather optimistically:

I think they are, for the first time, sort of entertaining the idea of it. When we did Avengers 1 it was basically ‘No!’, and now I think there is some consideration for it. But there’s still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be. I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack the nut. It’s a tough…I think the Banner/Hulk storyline is obviously not an easy nut to crack.

Fans have been clamoring for more Hulk since The Avengers, and it seems like Marvel will soon oblige. Depending on just how successful Age of Ultron is, the studio will probably decide on what they want to do with Hulk next. While a solo outing might not be in the cards, Ruffalo thinks a team-up movie for Iron Man 4 (if they make an Iron Man 4) would be pretty cool. When the interviewer raised the possibility of that, Ruffalo really took a liking to that idea, saying, “That would be cool! Or do Iron Man and…Iron Man 4 and Banner is in that. That’d be very cool.” You can hear more from Ruffalo by watching the full video below. What do you think about the actor’s comments? Would you rather see a Hulk solo movie or a Hulk/Iron Man team-up?
