Marc Webb To Return For The Amazing Spider-Man Sequel

Mar Webb relaunched the Spider-Man franchise and made an “Amazing” $751 million worldwide. Webb is now locked in to direct the sequel to this years Amazing Spider-Man set for a 3D release on May 2, 2014.
Variety is reporting that Webb and Peter Parker/Spidey star Andrew Garfield are set to return. It is almost certain that Emma Stone will reprise her role as Gwen Stacey, but for now she is “in talks.” The sequel will be written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci with Jeff Pinkner from a previous draft by James Vanderbilt.
Webb’s return wasn’t a sure thing, earlier this summer it was reported that “some obstacles” may have stood in the way of his return. It appears those hurdles have been jumped and Webb will return. With the films success and Webb’s rising star status, hopefully he will have more creative control. It’s well documented that the film was the victim of massive cuts, all you had to do was watch a trailer and then the film to see there were cuts. While Webb’s Spider-Man wasn’t horrible, hopefully he can up his game in his third outing on a big film. Plus, Stone has said in almost every interview that she wants Gwen to meet her comic book fate this time around. What do you think webheads? Are you happy Webb is returning or would you have seen somebody else swing in?
