Marc Webb Teases Kraven The Hunter For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3

The second installment in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man franchise hit theaters this weekend. The film opened in spectacular manner over seas, raking in over $275 million at the box office so far. Domestically, the film opened to just over $92 million, which seems like a big opening, and it is, but Sony wanted bigger. These numbers won’t keep the studio, and Marc Webb, from moving forward with the planned third film in the franchise, which is slated for a 2016 release. The script is currently being pulled together for that film, but it’s a safe bet that the villain, or villains, will help pave the path to the planned Sinister Six film, much like the final moments of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has done.

Spider-Man-vs-Kraven-by-Alisson-Borges-de-CostaOne of the characters that is rumored to be a part of this elite group is Kraven the Hunter. During the closing credits, you can see various images teasing other characters, including Vulture and Doc Ock. The other being the vicious hunter Sergei Kravinoff, which you can see in the image above. In a recent talk with Comic BookMarc Webb is asked who he’d like to include in his next film and he quickly shares his answer.

“Kraven,” Webb replied. “Kraven. I like the idea of Kraven. The Vulture. Ock. I always thought the idea of Mysterio was interesting. Maybe Scorpion. But really, Kraven I think is kind of interesting.”

Coincidence? It’s possible, but I”m betting we see the hunter in the next film. Marc Webb, as well as Andrew Garfield, have both stated they are done after the third film, so if Webb wants to include Kraven in a film, now’s the time to make it happen.

For those not familiar with the character, Kraven is a very skilled big game hunter, the best in the world. Kraven feels that if he were to bring down the wall-crawler, it’d serve as the ultimate trophy. The character has heightened strength and agility and is a very capable hand-to-hand combatant. he is familiar with the numerous pressure points on not only humans, but animals as well. He rarely uses weapons and relies on these strengths as his main weapon.

What do you think? Is Sergei Kravinoff a character you’d like to see join the Spider-Man film universe? Do you think he’ll be a part of the planned Sinister Six film? Who would you like to see play the role?
