Malekith Will Return To Do Battle With Thor: The God Of Thunder

thorThe new Thor movie will be coming out this October with Malekith the Accursed squaring off against the Thunderer, so as you can guess it’s a perfect time to have comic book Malekith return from the dead to fight in Jason Aaron‘s Thor: The God of Thunder. The announcement was made today at the Marvel’s Next Big Thing panel at C2E2.

Jason Aaron will reunite with his former Wolverine artist Ron Garney this September for an arc called The Accursed. It will focus on Malekith, the ruler of the Dark Elves, returning from Hel to wreak havoc on all the Nine Realms. Editor Tom Brevoort said of the story “I think what Jason, Esad [Ribic] and Ron are doing are basically these big, sweeping science fiction fantasy epics. This story will be a manhunt take on that idea as Thor chases the Dark Elf through all of the Nine Realms and helps redefine what they are for readers before the book shifts back to including stories of old Thor and young Thor as well.

Aaron spoke to Marvel about the arc and teased that every good fantasy story has to have a map and that we haven’t had a good map of the Nine Ream in a while. Besides the manhunt for Malekith, we’ll get to explore and learn about the Nine Realms themselves. Ribic will return after this storyline and bring some new adventures to readers featuring Old and young Thor.

Thor: The God of Thunder has been one of the best Marvel NOW! books out there. Aaron has made an epic fantasy adventure with the God Butcher story, so it will be exciting to see how he handles a big bad Dark Elf. What do you think about Malekith coming back?
