Lupita Nyong’o In Talks For STAR WARS VII
Each year, the films that battle it out during awards season usually generate a slew of new, fresh actors that quickly become a hot commodity in Hollywood. One such actress from this year is Luptia Nyong’o, who turned a lot of heads int he acclaimed 12 Years A Slave, which also starred Micaheal Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Not surprisingly, she is on the radar of many film makers who are trying to sign the latest and greatest to their projects.
One of those film makers is JJ Abrams, who is up to his neck in Star Wars VII casting. According to Heat Vision, Nyong’o has met with Abrams for an unspecified role. Apparently, the meeting took place several weeks ago, before the actress took home an Oscar for her role in 12 Years A Slave. The role will likely be a lead in the highly anticipated sequel, with some suspecting it could be that of an descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which has been described as a “non-Caucasian” role. One thing we do know is that the role is not connected to the search for a male and female lead in their twenties.
Not long ago, it was discovered that the search for that very male lead was down to just a few, including Friday Night Lights alum Jesse Plemons, along with Downton Abbey star Ed Speleers and John Boyega. We also know that Adam Driver, of Girls fame, is in final talks to fill the villain role of the film. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more casting information as it comes along.
