Looks Like Paul Rudd Will Indeed Be Our ANT-MAN
Not particularly surprising news, but a few of the trades are reporting that Paul Rudd has landed the role of Ant-Man and is in early negotiations to star in the Edgar Wright directed flick. Those are two very contradictory terms, but hey that’s what Variety says.
According to the site, the Anchorman 2 star is close to closing a deal to star in Wright‘s long gestating Marvel flick about a the size-changing hero who can communicate with ants. Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were the only two actors ever mentioned for the role, but now that JGL is attached to DC and Neil Gaiman‘s Sandman, he’s obviously out of the running. Word is that Rudd will be Hank Pym even though we’ve been led to believe on several occasions that Scott Lang will be the star of the movie. We won’t know until Marvel or Edgar Wright makes the news official, but they’re happy to keep us waiting.
Kevin Feige said we could expect Ant-Man casting before the end of the year, so Marvel could well be putting out a press release on their site later this week with an “Exclusive” title attached even though we know the news already. That seems to be their style. See the Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon story as ‘exhibit A.’ What do you think know that it’s even closer to official that Rudd is our Ant-Man?
