Looks Like DC’s Villains Month Is A Go
There’s been a rumor going around for the past several weeks that DC plans to make September a line-wide Villains Month in the New 52, with new #1 issues where a big time villain takes over one of the regular ongoing series for a single issue. It seems that DC all but confirmed it this weekend at C2E2 during the DC 101 panel by DC VP of Marketing John Cunningham.
During the Q&A portion of the panel, a fan asked whether or not the Crime Syndicate of America would be getting their own series in the 52. The panelists dodged the question pretty well, but Cunningham reportedly said “You asked that question about a month before you should have asked it.” People may be reading too much into it, but one month from now would be when the September solicitations are released. So the September solicitations will seemingly confirm the Villains Month idea. Taking another logical step, the Crime Syndicate of America could take over for either Justice League or Justice League of America. Remember Scott Snyder introduced Owlman into the 52 during the Court of Owls storyline. That could be the door that lets the other Syndicate members enter. If that’s the case, it seems like there may be some changes to the team’s origins. The Crime Syndicate was originally an alternate-Earth version of the Justice League if they were evil. What do you think? Are you excited about Villains Month?
