Knightingail #4 Features First Val Hochberg Cover
Knightingail creator/writer, Wayne Gardiner, is pleased to announce that Val Hochberg will be illustrating the cover Bs for Knightingail: Shadow Divisions issues #4-6 published by Big Dog Ink. Issue #4 marks Val’s first nationally released comic book cover. Wayne met Val only recently at a local comic appearance in Tempe, Arizona called Geeks Night Out. Wayne noticed that Val’s artwork had a simple elegance and style that he felt would look great for Knightingail. Later, an opportunity opened up, and Wayne decided to give Val a shot at the final 3 national covers for Knightingail. As can be seen by her amazing illustrations, Val’s artwork is truly spectacular. The exceptional coloring of Kate Finnegan breathes the final life into the cover illustrations. Val’s second cover illustration has already been completed, and features a tense showdown between Kaeli and a Shadow Raven Officer who has captured Kaeli’s boyfriend Kurt.
Wayne and Val are pleased to offer 11×17 prints of Val’s fabulous cover to local fans at the upcoming Phoenix Comicon at Val Hochberg’s booth (#2213). In addition, younger Knightingail fans can pick up a free 8×10 coloring book page of this illustration to color for themselves.
As producer of the Knightingail series, Wayne has taken pleasure in featuring talented artists on his comic books that have never been seen by domestic comic book audiences and yet whose art is truly remarkable. The first Knightingail series, The Legend Begins, featured first time comic cover artwork by Genzoman, Michelle Hardy, and cosplay model Jessica Nigri. Amazing Knightingail interior artists Mel Joy San Juan and Katrina Mae Hao were also unknown to American audience before Wayne featured the art of these artists from the Philippines. Bringing Val on board continues this tradition of finding and promoting exceptional talented artists.
