Kit Harrington, Saoirse Ronan, Kate Mara And Others Lining Up for FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot
It wasn’t that long ago that we learned a fifth writer was brought in to polish the script for Fox’s forever-gestating reboot of Fantastic Four. Simon Kinberg is the lucky person, but the studio has worked with him in the past on various projects, including several X-Men films. Hopefully, he’ll be the person to add the final touches needed. As far as casting goes, we’ve heard numerous rumors for some time now, including Michael B. Jordan being the main focus for the role of Johnny Storm and Miles Teller being up for the role of Reed Richards. From these rumors, we can surmise that the studio, as well as director Josh Trank, are looking for a much younger group of actors than we had initially expected.
It looks as though we can add a few more names to the growing list of actors, as Variety is reporting that there are several up-and-coming actors who are at the top of Fox’s list for the two main leads of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington, Jack O’Connell of the upcoming 300: Rise of an Empire and the previously mentioned Miles Teller are all said to be on the shortlist for Mr. Fantastic. As for his co-star, Saoirse Ronan, Kate Mara, and Margot Robbie are said to be at the top of the list for Sue. As I mentioned, all of these actors are on the cusp of becoming big stars and landing a film like this should push them over that line.
However, there could be some scheduling conflicts for several of these actors should they land the role. Production on Fantastic Four is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2014. O’Connell is set to begin filming Unbroken for Angelina Jolie, while Ronan has recently stated she has read for a lead role in JJ Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars films. Should she land that, she will busy for quite some time. Keep in mind though, that this project is a work in progress.
No names have been mentioned for the villain of the film, actors or characters, and The Thing/Ben Grimm, the fourth member of the iconic Marvel foursome. The film has a release date set for March 2015, so they can’t wait too much longer to fill these roles. Hopefully we’ll get some more solid information soon.
