Karen Gillan Goes From The Doctor’s Companion To Guardian Of The Galaxy’s Villain
Karen Gillan, known to most as The Doctor‘s companion Amy Pond, is reportedly joining the cast of James Gunn and Marvel Studio‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie will start shooting this June in the UK, and the final few cast members have been falling into place the last few weeks.
It was only the other day that we heard Glenn Close had signed up (or was really close to signing on) to play one of the higher-ups in the Nova Corps alongside John C. Reilly. Today The Hollywood Reporter revealed Gillan will be joining those two, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, and Michael Rooker in the huge space epic. Details of Gillan‘s role are scarce right now, but it is confirmed that she will be the film’s lead female villain. The Scottish actress rose to nerd super-stardom on Doctor Who. She appeared in a total of three seasons alongside Matt Smith‘s Doctor. Gillan has since done a few indie movies and a guest spot on an [Adult Swim] show, but this will be her first major role post-Doctor Who. What do you think about Amy Pond becoming a baddie? Any guesses on who she’ll be?
