So far, Ming Na, Brett Dalton, Elizabeth Henstridge and  Ian De Caestecker have been confirmed for recurring roles in the series. Clark Gregg, who has played Agent Phil Coulson in many of the Marvel films, has also been confirmed for the series, but in what capacity is still unknown.

ABC has turned to Nashville star Chloe Bennet to fill the final role for the show, Skye, who is said to be a confident woman who is enthralled with the  of superhero culture and the “shadow organizations” that exist within it. She’s also edgy and can “out-talk anyone with her unflappable nature.”

Bennet is known for playing Hailey on the hit series Nashville. Joss Whedon has signed on to pen the script with his brother Jed Whedon and his wife  Maurissa Tancharoen, all of who worked on the cult-favorite Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Joss Wehedon will also direct the pilot for ABC Studios
