Joss Whedon Talks Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. And Just How Involved He Will Be

shield bannerJoss Whedon is out and about beating the drums for his movie Much Ado About Nothing, but the majority of chats he’s had to promote the film have turned to his Marvel duties and the upcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot premiering later this year on ABC. The superstar writer and director talked a little more about the highly anticipated new series and really just how involved he will be considering he’s got all the Avengers 2 work to do.

At the Much Ado screening in London, Bleeding Cool got a chance to speak with the director. They covered a lot about the film, but they also got a quote from Whedon on how involved he’ll be with the show now that it has been picked up for series. Whedon wrote and directed the pilot, but he’ll obviously have to take a step back on the other episodes since he’ll be working on Avengers 2. He might not be in the trenches every day, but he’ll still be heavily involved with the show:

I’ll be as hands on [with Agents of SHIELD] as I can. I’ve stocked it with writers that I know and respect and trust because, obviously, I have this other film that I have to make. It’s going to be on a case by case but I’ll be in every story, every cut and all of that stuff.

Red Carpet News also got a few words from the director about the show. Whedon reiterated the mission statement of the show and how it focuses on the normal people (they’re S.H.I.E.L.D. agents so I’m not exactly sure how ‘normal’ they are) and how it’s not just a big tease for the Marvel movie world. He also expands on his love of Clark Gregg. You can check out that brief clip below. So what do you think? Are you glad Whedon will still be fairly hands on with the show?
