Joss Whedon On Why He Is Bringing Quicksilver And Scarlet Witch To The Avengers 2
While promoting his latest film, Much Ado About Nothing, Joss Whedon has been bombarded by questions about The Avengers 2. He made headlines a couple weeks back when he revealed that he was bringing Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to the movie. While chatting with Empire on their podcast, he talked a little bit about why he chose to bring those particular characters to the sequel, and also said he has turned in his first draft of the script.
“Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are very close to my heart because they were Avengers the whole time I was reading the book as a kid. Sometimes they were evil but sometimes they were good. They’re very… textured, they’re very different from everybody else in the mix. They’re not there to make things easier on The Avengers but what we do with the group once we’ve got them is squeeze. The fun I’m having doing that is probably unseemly.”
What about Quicksilver being added, by Fox, to X-Men: Days Of Future Past in an apparent one up to Marvel? Doesn’t phase Whedon one bit. When asked about the inclusion in of Quicksilver in the new X-Men movie Whedon simply said, “He’s in our movie and he’s going to be dope.” For the latest on The Avengers 2, make sure to check back here at Comic Book Therapy.
