Just last week, we learned that Joseph Gordon-Levitt had joined the list of ever-growing actors to be testing for the lead role of Peter Quill/Starlord in Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film. It looks as though the popular actor passed on the role to take on a different comic book film in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, the long awaited sequel to Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s stunning Sin City.
Deadline reports that JGL will be taking on the role of Johnny, a part that was originally offered to Johnny Depp, who obviously passed on the offer. Levitt will be joining the cast of Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Rosario Dawson and Dennis Haysbert. Another name being tossed around is Josh Brolin, another actor who has become a hot commodity in Hollywood.
Filming for A Dame to Kill For is currently underway, so Levitt will be working the film into his current schedule. As for the Starlord role in Guardians, there are still several names in contention, including Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum, Les Miserables’s Eddie Redmayne, Jim Sturgess of Cloud Atlas and Zero Dark Thirty’s Joel Edgerton.
