John “Captain Jack” Barrowman Joins Cast Of CW’s Arrow

by

John Barrowman, known to most as the swashbuckling Time Agent Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who and Torchwood, will be joining the cast of CW’s newest DC Superhero show Arrow.

EW learned that Barrowman has signed up for a recurring role in the first season. Nobody is saying much about his role, the only thing said about the character was that he will be a “well-dressed man” who is “as mysterious as he is wealthy…he is an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in  Starling City.”

The site throws out the possibility of Stanley Dove Sr., a philanthropist who is better known as the Star City Slayer.  This isn’t Barrowman’s first brush with tights. He auditioned for Superman Returns and has expressed a desire to play a superhero in movies or television. He threw his name out for Captain America most recetly. While there isn’t official word yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if Barrowman ends up playing a hero. Whether it is a well-known hero or not, my money is on Barrowman being a superhero. Arrow has changed some story details, so the vague character description could be for anybody. What do you think of the addition? Is there somebody you’d like to see Barrowman play?
