Joe And Anthony Russo Confirm They Will Be Back For CAPTAIN AMERICA 3
A few weeks ago word hit that directors Joe and Anthony Russo would follow up their Captain America: The Winter Soldier gig by signing a new contract to direct the third installment of Steve Rogers‘ adventures. The buzz on Winter Soldier is astoundingly positive, and Marvel is said to be extremely pleased with the final cut of the film. With the positive buzz from both Marvel folks and people that have seen early screenings of the film, it’s no surprise that the studio wants to lock the duo into another film. Now the brothers confirm the news and talk about the work currently underway for the next film.
Speaking with Collider, the Russos said they were finally able to open up about coming back for movie number three now that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said they would return. Joe Russo told the site:
Well now that Kevin [Feige] said it that means we can talk about it, I guess. That’s great. We’re just in the formative stages of it right now. We just started breaking story with [screenwriters Christopher] Markus and [Stephen] McFeely and we’re just getting an idea of what we wanna do with it. It’s crazy working on it before the movie even comes out because you want to see what people respond to in the movie. You want to get some inspiration from what people like about the film so you go, ‘Okay, this is what we gotta lean into in the next movie’ or ‘this is what we should move away from, this didn’t work so well.’ So we’re just in that phase of breaking story but waiting to see how people respond to the movie.
News on Thor 3 didn’t hit until a few days after its premiere, so it looks like Marvel is extremely happy with the Russos if they’re making all of this official weeks before the movies release. From everything that’s out there about the film now, we are going to be in for a real treat. While we eagerly await what’s coming up, we can already start looking farther into the future and what the directing duo will do with the next film. What do you think about the news?
