Jesse L. Martin Joins THE FLASH Pilot As Detective West
The Flash pilot was scheduled to get a backdoor pilot during the second season of Arrow, episode 20 to be exact. However, due to the overwhelmingly popularity of the episodes that Barry Allen was in during episode 8 and 9, The CW decided to give the show it’s own stand alone pilot.
We already know that the show will star Grant Gustin as Barry Allen AKA The Flash, who had his accident at the end of his Arrow stint. What we didn’t know though, was who would be the supporting cast. That was until now, as Law and Order alum Jesse L. Martin has joined the show as Detective West. West is described as being an honest, blue-collar cop who is a surrogate father to Allen, and who will be most likely the father of long time Flash love interest Iris West.
Not too much is known about The Flash show as of yet. What is apparent, is that they seem to be flipping the script on fans and making the West family, who is white in the comics, African American in the show. There hasn’t been any indication on who they might cast as Iris, but check back here at Comic Book Therapy for the latest.
