By Cody "The Thorverine" Ferrell on Nov 05, 2012 with Comments 3
DC Comics made an announcement earlier today that Ann Nocenti will step down from being the writer on Green Arrow to write a Katana miniseries with artist Alex Sanchez to tie in with the upcoming Justice League of America book. Now we know who will be filling the Green Arrow void- writer Jeff Lemire and I,Vampire artist Andrea Sorrentino. The duo will start fresh with Green Arrow #17 in February.
Lemire posted this quote on his blog as well as a teaser of the art as you can see at the top:
I couldn’t be more excited about the character and the series and have a bold new direction for the book planned. Keep an eye on DC’s Blog THE SOURCE later this afternoon for more details on what I have planned as well as an exclusive first look at Andrea’s art for the series!
The Animal Man writer took to twitter to further tease fans and to assure them that he isn’t leaving Animal Man or Justice League Dark.
Have looooong term plans for Ollie. Big new mythology, new villains. And @and_sorrentino has raised his game big time. His career best work

If you liked Mike Grell’s GA run, @andydiggle‘s Year One or Denys O’Neil’s Question you’ll probably dig my take on Ollie.

Thanks for all the kind words about Green Arrow. Still writing Animal Man and Justice League Dark for a long haul too!

There will be more announcements and changes coming for DC as we learn more about the Justice League of America title by Geoff Johns and David Finch. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for the big moves as they happen. What do you think about Lemire taking on the emerald archer?

Thank heavens. Maybe they’ll do it justice… but I’m not holding my breath.
I sure hope so. So far everyone who has worked on the book since the New 52 has made a huge mess of it. What a load of crap the book has been. PLEASE do my favorite DC character justice for a change. Either that, or get out of the way and let Mike Grell take the helm.
Jeff Lemire is a talented writer and Andrea Sorrentino is a ridiculous on art, sign me up.
