Jason Aaron’s SCALPED Getting The TV Treatment From WGN America
Scalped, the critically acclaimed DC/Vertigo series from Jason Aaron and R.M. Guera, is heading to the small screen. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that WGN America is looking to adapt the story as their second scripted series. The crime noir series set on a Native American reservation will be brought to life by Banshee‘s Doug Jung, who will pen the script and executive produce the Warner Horizon Television drama.
Scalped ran for 60 issues from 2007 to 2012, so there is plenty of great material to pull from. Dashiell Bad Horse returns to the “Rez” as an undercover FBI agent looking to take down Red Crow, the leader of organized crime and the drug trade on the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation. While Bad Horse is an FBI agent, he’s no boy scout. The series is one of the longest-running comics series in history that features a non-white protagonist and non-white cast. Scalped joins other DC/Vertigo series like The Flash, Constantine, iZombie, Hourman, Preacher, The League of Extraordinarily Gentleman, and Gotham on the small screen. What do you think about the news? Are you ready to get Scalped?
