Jason Aaron Stepping Away From AMAZING X-MEN; Kyle And Yost Come Aboard
In some surprising news today, Marvel announced that writer Jason Aaron would be stepping away from Amazing X-Men and some new writers will be coming aboard soon. Aaron launched the still pretty new series and made it a swashbuckling adventure that is seeing Nightcrawler return to the land of the living. It seems Aaron‘s incredibly busy schedule means he has to hand over the reigns to new writers, but no strangers to the X-Men, Craig Kyle and Chris Yost. Artist Ed McGuinness will be staying on the series for the foreseeable future though.
Kyle and Yost will be taking over the series with June’s issue #8. The duo will be carrying over a lot of things from Aaron‘s run, but they’ll be adding a new mutant into the mix- Colossus. The metallic titan was last seen in the pages of Cable and X-Force, but now he’s coming back home to the X-Men. Aaron took to Twitter just a little while ago to talk about his departure. He wrote in a series of Tweets we’ve collected together:
So yeah, because of my overall schedule demands, I had to step away from Amazing X-Men a bit sooner than I’d hoped. Though as far as parting shots go, I think the Return of Nightcrawler is a pretty satisfying way to end my tenure as an X-writer. Without Amazing, that leaves me writing Original Sin, Thor, Southern Bastards and a couple of other things I can’t talk about yet. It was definitely weird to leave the X-verse behind after spending pretty much my entire Marvel career there. But I couldn’t be happier with the stuff I’m working on now. Fun times ahead!
Aaron stepped away from Wolverine and the X-Men just a few months ago so he could focus on Amazing X-Men and his big Marvel event, Original Sin. We still have the entirety of Original Sin to look forward to, Aaron‘s creator-owned Southern Bastards, and those mystery projects he teased though. Undoubtedly fans will be sad to see the writer leaving the X-universe alltogether, but he has left the series in a good place for some great writers. What do you think about Kyle and Yost taking over the reigns of Amazing?
