Jamie Foxx On Why He Was Interested In Electro

While it’s not “official,” it’s a very safe bet that the Jamie Foxx, Oscar winning actor, will suit up as the villain Electro in Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man sequel. The actor Tweeted earlier this month that he had dressed up as Electro for Halloween and the costume “fits well.” Many thought the choice was odd and that Foxx would star in a superhero film. Some questioned if he was a good fit for the electric miscreant. The actor commented on why he was interested in the role in the first place.
Speaking with Access Hollywood, Foxx stated that he has his fingers crossed that it would all work out. He wasn’t the only one excited about playing Electro in the Spider-Man sequel. One person in particular made him go after the part:
I have a little daughter, 4 years old, and what’s crazy is like, this past year she had a birthday where Spider-Man was the theme. Fingers crossed [that] it all works out. I haven’t sprung it on her yet, but she will go crazy!
So that’s why Foxx is going after a role that seems like an odd choice if you compare it to his previous roles. He can definitely play the dark and gritty characters which would fit in with the tone of the first film. What do you think about Foxx’s potential as the next Spidey villain?
