So it seems the casting rumors that Guardians of the Galaxy had narrowed its search for Peter “Star-Lord” Quill down to Zachary Levi, Jim Sturgess, and a third mystery man to be screen tested after Christmas are false.
The director took to his Facebook page and Twitter account to issue the following statement about those reports originating with Variety.
Almost everything in the Variety article on the Guardians of the Galaxy casting (and the following articles based on it) was/is inaccurate.

Adding to his Facebook post, the director commented “I’ll just use the above as a blanket way of saying, unless you hear something from me or Marvel, doubt it highly.”
Now we’re back to knowing little to nothing about the forthcoming movie that will be written and directed by Gunn. The message was just posted on his Facebook page, so there may still be more news to come on this if Gunn decides to comment further after others blow up his post with comments. Stay tuned, if there’s more we’ll bring it to you. So the search for Star-Lord is still one and everyone could be in the race. In light of the recent developments, who would you like to see wear the helmet?
