IDW Announces Star Trek Into Darkness Prequel Miniseries

Today IDW announced a comic book prequel miniseries for JJ Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness. The series, called Star Trek: Countdown to Darkness, will serve as the official prequel series for the upcoming film. The 4-issue run will set the stage for the film and bridge the gap between the first movie and the opening moments of the sequel. The series also promises to give fans an exclusive peek at the film’s very secretive story.

The series will be written by Mike Johnson with a story by Robert Orci. David Messina will handle art duties for the series. Issue #1 hits stores January 2013.

Publisher Announces Prequel Series to J. J. Abrams’ Upcoming STAR TREK^TM Movie

San Diego, CA (December 14, 2012) – IDW Publishing will publish STAR TREK: COUNTDOWN TO DARKNESS, the official prequel series to Paramount Pictures’ upcoming movie, Star Trek Into Darkness. Written by Mike Johnson with a story by Roberto Orci and art by David Messina, this 4-issue miniseries will lead directly into the May release of Star Trek Into Darkness, bridging the gap between the two films and giving fans an exclusive peek at the film’s mysterious story.
