IDW Announces A New TRANSFORMERS/G.I. JOE Ongoing Crossover Series

by

transformersIt’s only happened a few times before, but now the Autobots, Decepticons, Joes, and Cobras will face off in a new ongoing series debuting next summer. IDW announced the new series written and drawn by Tom Scioli (Godland, American Barbarian) with co-writer and Transformers veteran John Barber.

The two franchises have never been bigger. With hit movies for both teams, now seems like the perfect time to have them cross over in the comic book world. The story seems to be taking a big event and playing it out on a very big stage:

Based on the iconic Hasbro brands, this stand-alone series is set to explore the intriguing encounter between these starkly different teams. Cosmic in scale, the series will utilize Scioli’s unique artwork to traverse the perils of space and pit the G.I. JOE team against the ominous threats of CYBERTRON. Featuring the characters synonymous with both TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE this will be a team-up for the ages!

The most interesting thing about this announcement is that it’s an ongoing series. There have been a lot of event books announced during New York Comic-Con, but this is the only one to go further than a miniseries. What do you think about G.I. Joe and Transformers crossing over in a new and bigger way?
