IDW Announces An Epilogue Comic For Star Trek Into Darkness
At WonderCon this weekend, IDW announced an epilogue comic for the upcoming Star Trek movie. The comic will not only carry on from Star Trek Into Darkness, it will also wrap things up from the IDW prequel comic Star Trek Countdown To Darkness. The three issue epilogue will be written by Mike Johnson with art from the group Stellar Labs. The story will run through the Star Trek ongoing title in issues #21-23. Johnson couldn’t say much, but he said what he could while talking to CBR:
Unfortunately I can’t say much, but I can say that people (both familiar and unfamiliar) travel to a place (both familiar and unfamiliar) very far away where their loyalties are tested and their lives are at risk. The comic story picks up a few days after the movie ends, then jumps ahead about a week. The storyline address the fallout from both the film and the prequel miniseries “Countdown to Darkness.” The hope is that the prequel, the movie and the ongoing series tell one big epic story that continues into the months to come.
Other than that and teasing the story will deal with themes like family, duty, wonder, love, lust, and xeno-geophysics, Johnson didn’t say much. You can read the rest of the cryptic interview by clicking here. The story, like IDW‘s other movie tie-in comics, will be supervised by Trek movie scribe Roberto Orci. You can check out the covers for issues #21 and 22 below. What do you think about an epilogue comic? Have you been enjoying the prequel comic so far?
