Hayley Atwell Will Make A Cameo In The Winter Soldier According To Stanley Tucci
We had originally heard that Steve Rogers’ main squeeze, Peggy Carter, wouldn’t be popping up in the Captain America sequel. Actress Hayley Atwell had told reporters on numerous occasions that she would not be reprising her role, but according to her Cap co-star Stuanley Tucci she will be popping up if only for a brief moment.
Speaking with Collider, Stanley Tucci talked about the first film and touched on his time as Dr. Erskine in The First Avenger:
I loved making that movie. I had a great time. I really like Joe Johnston. I think he’s a wonderful director. I also love the look of the film, and the tone of the film, and the character was great. I was thrilled to be able to play that. I was so sad that I died because I wanted to come back and do another one. It was great to be offered this old, German scientist. I thought, “Oh, that’s great.” I couldn’t tell if I was really flattered or insulted. I don’t know.
He went on to reveal that He would not be turning up in a flashback for Winter Soldier, but that Atwell would. Tucci stated he became friends with Atwell during the film and had just had dinner with the actress the previous night. While chatting it up over dinner she revealed that she had been asked back for a flashback scene. This makes sense considering a cut scene from The Avengers had Steve looking in on his old friends and seeing that Peggy was still alive. While it’s highly doubtful an old Peggy will appear, it seems we’ll have a flashback or two of Steve’s pre-Capsicle life. Whatdo you think? Were you expecting a Peggy cameo?
