Hawkeye To Get His Own Title In August

It seems like after Avengers vs. X-Men wraps up we are going to get a lot of new comics coming out. We’ve already learned about Gambit getting his own title, and now coming out of C2E2 is word that Hawkeye will also get a solo book.
Matt Fraction and David Aja, who worked on the highly acclaimed The Immortal Iron Fist, are teaming back up for this project. Comic Book Resources caught up with Fraction and got the full rundown.
This Hawkeye will be slightly different. He will be on the mean streets of New York in a very retro-styled/70s urban grit, but present day setting. Fraction said that you almost expect Hawkeye “to come around the corner and bump into Power Man and Iron Fist from 30 years ago.” Fraction went on to say
I wanted to find a way to stay interested and engaged and thought these types of adventure stories should feel hard-edged, gritty, human — a little bit beaten-down, a little bit weathered. No sheen like in “Avengers Assemble,” no special effects like in “Secret Avengers.” Hawkeye will be out of costume as much as he’s in costume. This isn’t a book about being a super hero. It’s about being a good guy and, hopefully, a good man. This is what he has to do to tolerate who he is. It’s what he does when he’s not an Avenger. Gifted people helping out because it’s the right thing to do.
Hawkeye won’t be facing all of this alone. He will be bringing along the other Hawkeye, Kate Bishop from the Young Avengers. Below are the covers for issues one and two. To read the full CBR interview with Fraction with more info on this particular title, click here.
