Gwyenth Paltrow Hasn’t Been Asked To Take Part In Avengers: Age of Ultron
I still get chills whenever I am watching Avengers and I see some of my favorite comic heroes assembled for the first time. The epic music hits and the camera circles around the time as they are about to lay down an alien ass-whipping. Few movie moments will ever surpass that. Joss Whedon has a monumental task in gathering this impressive group of characters and divvying up the screen time in a fair and effective manner. A task that few people would be able to tackle successfully. Although Gwyneth Paltrow’s character, Pepper Potts, didn’t play a massive role in Avengers like she’s done in Iron Man’s solo films. That’s not to see she didn’t have some great scene’s however, including a rather emotional scene where Stark, as he is carrying a nuclear weapon on his back and is flying to his inevitable death, tries to reach Pepper, who doesn’t see or hear her phone ringing. With Robert Downey Jr. now officially returning and potentially JARVIS playing a possible pivotal role in the film, will Pepper be joining her cast mates?
Gwyneth Paltrow recently sat down to talk with Hitfix, where the topic eventually led to the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. When asked if she’d be reprising her Pepper Potts role, the actress says that she hasn’t been contacted yet. It should also be noted that she didn’t even know the name of the movie. More of a funny point rather than news.
“What is it called? “‘Age of Ultron,’ okay. Well, no, I don’t think [I’ll be in it]. I haven’t heard any…my phone has not rung for ‘Avengers 2.'”
Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that she won’t be involved with the project, but it doesn’t look too likely at this point. Keep in mind that Joss Whedon and company are still putting together the story for the highly anticipated sequel, so it’s still very possible Potts will make an appearance. Not to mention that the film will very likely be Iron Man-centric, with Stark being the rumored creator of the newly announced baddie in Ultron, being played by the incomparable James Spader. I’d be quite surprised if she isn’t involved, so ook for her to sign on as we get closer to the start of filming early next year.
Avengers: Age of Ultron will see Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson all return, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olson rumored to be playing the brother-sister duo of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. It’s scheduled to hit theaters in a very crowded 2015.
