GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Won’t Be Going To The Super Bowl
Fans were excited at the prospect of Guardians of the Galaxy having a trailer debuted during the Super Bowl, but it turns out those discussions were incredibly premature. The notorious Nikki Finke said that Disney‘s third Super Bowl ad spot would be for James Gunn and Marvels space epic, but now the director has taken to Twitter to shoot that particular rumor down. He does promise something else is coming soon though.
With the Super Bowl taking over television February 2nd, fans had hoped to get their first official look at Guardians of the Galaxy. The Comic-Con footage did partially leak online, but that was rough and unfinished scenes. James Gunn has said numerous times on his Facebook that a trailer isn’t immediately on the horizon since he wants to make sure everything is perfect before unleashing it to the world. The Super Bowl seemed like a good stage to let the Guardians loose, but Gunn Tweeted just a little while ago:
For those of you asking about a #gotg Super Bowl spot, there will not be one but we will have something incredibly awesome for you soon.

It’s interesting that he says something incredible is coming soon. Whether that means another officially released image, a full poster, a Twitter teaser, or an actual trailer remains to be seen. Gunn is one that’s a straight shooter, so if he says there’s no Super Bowl spot then I’m inclined to believe him. That’s not something you would even lie about anyway. It’s the most watched program of the year. You literally can’t buy better publicity than that. What do you think about the Guardians setting the Super Bowl out? What do you think Gunn will be releasing soon?
